In July 1908, President Armand Fallières of France visited Copenhagen. He arrived at Toldboden (the Custom House) on Monday 20th July at 3.00 p.m. where he was met with pomp and circumstance by King Frederik VIII and Crown Prince Christian.
At 9.00 the following day, Monsieur Fallières visited Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, where he was received on Dantes Plads and shown round the museum by Carl Jacobsen, the founder of the Glyptotek, who also established the Ny Carlsberg Foundation. On this occasion a film was made, which is, so far, the only known cine-film of Carl Jacobsen. The event attracted considerable media attention, which is clearly apparent from the large number of photographers in the film. Many prominent figures of the time participated in the Glyptotek visit, e.g. there is a brief glimpse of Edvard Brandes (a notable Danish politician and cultural personality of the period) in the Winter Garden.
